AFTRS and Apple Box Studio Partnership 

AFTRS, the Australian Film Television and Radio School works hand-in-hand with industry and education partners to provide world-leading creative education in-person across Australia. They have developed specific courses in collaboration with these partners to address identified skills gaps and roles currently in demand. 

AFTRS partners with Apple Box Studio to provide training opportunities in Tasmania. Both institutions offer production-focused education and training designed to prepare job-ready graduates for the industry.

In August 2025, Michelle Hardy brought us the 2 day workshop “Intro to Producing & Screen Business” held at the Kingborough Community Hub. And in November 2025, Vicki Madden taught the 2 day workshops “Intro to Screenwriting” also at the Kingborough Community Hub.

Intro to Producing & Screen Business

This introductory course will teach you the important role of a producer in the development of film and television productions. You will explore all facets of a producer and their responsibilities, from the conception of a screen project, to bringing it to market, including intellectual property, developing screen ideas, budgeting, and more.

Intro to Screenwriting

This is an introductory course that covers screenwriting basics and tips for beginners. No previous experience is required, just a passion for storytelling.

This course is ideal for aspiring screenwriters as well as producers, directors, actors, content creators and other creatives looking to explore the craft of screenwriting and build their storytelling and narrative skills.
