Reel Talk 2025
Throughout 2025, we ran a program called Reel Talk, where we invited industry professionals from stage and screen to share their stories and insights with us. Most of these took on an ‘In Conversation’ style structure, and others were more of a presentation of their craft. We are so incredibly grateful to all of our wonderful guests for joining us, and we hope to bring back this program in the future. Daniel Lê

Originally from Launceston, Tasmania, Daniel started in his early thirties as a junior Avid Editor for a small corporate video company. After answering a newspaper ad for an Assistant Editor, his first job in Television was on the Channel 9 show, McLeod’s Daughters. From that introduction to television Drama, Daniel has gone on to work on both film and television series produced both locally and internationally. Moving between roles as Assistant Editor and VFX Editor, his credits include the Underbelly series, The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, The Great Gatsby, Mad Max Furiosa, and most recently, Mortal Kombat 2.
Shaun Wilson

Hobart based Shaun Wilson works internationally directing projects like Prosper for Stan, Frayed for Sky One/HBO max/ABC, Romantic Getaway for Sky, Rosehaven for ABC/Sundance TV/Amazon, The Young Offenders for BBC, and The Ex-PM for ABC. He co-created and directed the award winning web series Noirhouse for ABC iview. As a commercial director he’s won awards for campaigns like The Wanderer and The Unconformity, as well as directing a Gruen pitch-winning commercial for agency Red Jelly. He previously ran commercial production company Pananda, was a partner in design company Bluehat, and served on the board of Wide Angle Tasmania for several years.
Lynn Reed

Self-taught screenwriter and independent film producer Lynn Reed joins us to talk about her journey from American politics to Australian feature films, and everything in between.
In the US, Lynn wrote and produced the independent feature "A Sort of Homecoming", which was released by Mar Vista Entertainment and Netflix in North America. Then, Lynn headed down under, to be an associate producer on "Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears", an Australian feature film based on the popular TV series "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries", produced by Every Cloud Productions. Having now made a permanent move to Australia, Lynn is currently based in Hobart, where she is developing the feature film "The Octopus and I" based on Erin Hortle's debut novel of the same name.
And in a previous career, Lynn was an internet strategist and web developer for multiple US political campaigns, including two presidential campaigns!
Nathan Gooley

Tassie based Nathan started his career as a production runner in Sydney on shows like All Saints for Seven Network, and has since worked on many productions in the assistant directing department both locally and abroad, going from fourth AD to third to second, on shows like Packed to the Rafters and A Place to Call Home for Seven Network, and Puberty Blues for Channel 10, before moving to First AD roles on shows like Deadloch for Amazon, Rosehaven and Bay of Fires for ABC, and upcoming Netflix series The Survivors.
Jack Lark

Jack began his creative journey on the Tasmanian stage, performing in productions across the state before moving to London to complete a Master of Arts in Musical Theatre at the Royal Academy of Music. While in the UK, he made his Off-West End debut, worked in screen and stage productions, and developed a love for collaborative, ensemble-driven storytelling.
Now based back in Hobart, Jack splits his time between acting, vocal coaching, and producing. As a voice teacher, he’s passionate about helping performers find confidence and freedom in their sound. As a producer, he is focused on creating artist-led projects for both stage and screen - work that champions bold ideas, creative integrity, and local talent.
Jack continues to pursue acting professionally and is committed to building a career that supports and uplifts the arts community he calls home.
Aeshlie Wheeler

Aeshlie Wheeler is a Casting Director and co-founder of Tas Casting, Tasmania's leading casting agency for screen and television productions. She has cast hundreds of projects across feature films, television dramas, commercials, and local campaigns, connecting productions with skilled Tasmanian performers for both local and national projects. Aeshlie also serves on the Executive Committee of the Casting Guild of Australia (CGA).
Passionate about education and industry development, Aeshlie actively works to support not only actors but also emerging producers. She regularly shares guidance on industry rates, agreements, and on-set practices, ensuring productions in Tasmania meet the same professional standards upheld across Australia.
Aeshlie has guided Tas Casting to become a cornerstone of Tasmania's creative industries, building strong relationships with producers, directors, and agencies while continuing to champion local talent and contribute to the state's growing screen sector.
Katie Robertson

Katie graduated from Sydney Theatre School’s Diploma of Arts (Acting) in 2008. She is best known as regular character Grace in all 5 seasons of ABC/Sundance TV’s critically acclaimed series Rosehaven, and as lead character Ainsley in all four seasons of the hit series Five Bedrooms. In 2023 she burst onto screens internationally playing Vanessa Latham in season 1 of the award-winning crime-comedy Deadloch.
In 2016 Katie was handpicked by Rebecca Gibney to play Jemima Parkmore in Channel Seven’s Wanted and appeared as Sandra Hull in the BBC/Foxtel series The Kettering Incident. Other credits include a guest lead role in True Story With Hamish & Andy and a scene-stealing craft instructor on Get Krack!n. Katie also starred in Seven’s spin-off of the wildly popular Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries crime drama series titled Ms Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries.
In 2016 she won the Tasmanian Theatre Award for Best Performance for her role as Vanda in Loud Mouth Theatre Co’s debut production of Venus in Fur and the same award again in 2018 for her performance in the Tasmanian Theatre Company’s sell-out season of e-baby.
Most recently she has been Director’s Assistant to Cherie Nowlan (Suits, Riverdale, Grey’s Anatomy) on Netflix’s The Survivors and can be seen in ABC’s highly anticipated comedy White Fever. Katie is an in demand, versatile character actor.
