About Apple Box Studio
We are an unfunded, not-for-profit organisation run by CEO Emma Wilson, and supported by a volunteer board. The board is made up of people with experience across various sectors of the creative arts in Tasmania. Currently Emma is also volunteering her time while the organisation gets established.
Apple Box Studio exists to support emerging creatives find their unique pathway into working in the creative arts in Tasmania - this includes film & television, theatre, games, sound and audio recording, live entertainment, comedy, content creation, and more.
Set up in response to the closure of the beloved grassroots filmmaking organisation Wide Angle Tasmania in 2022, Apple Box Studio serves more than just the screen sector in an effort to unite and strengthen our creative community.
A summary of our current 2024-2027 strategic plan is below.

What is involved?
Board members will be expected to attend a minimum of 6 meetings a year. These are already scheduled and the dates are listed below. There may be additional special meetings on top of these, and details of those meetings will be shared as soon as possible before the meeting, no less than 7 days prior.
All board meetings take place both in person and via zoom, to make them accessible to people across the state. They are on a Monday evening from 6.30pm and generally run for approx. 2 hours. When there is an AGM, that begins at 6.30pm and runs for 30 minutes, then the ordinary board meeting begins at 7pm and runs for approx. 1.5 hours.
All elected board members will be added to the Apple Box Studio Google Drive folder, which has all the minutes and agendas of our previous board meetings, our policies & procedures, constitution, financial documents and more.
Board members are expected to provide a bio and a photo for the website, and must be willing to represent Apple Box Studio as a board member, at our own and others events, throughout the year. They are expected to contribute to discussions about the program of events, and when necessary, contribute to the drafting of a new strategic plan, amendments to the constitution, and policies and procedures.
All board members are expected to maintain confidentiality with any information given to them in their role as board member, to act in good faith at all times, to not behave in a manner that could be detrimental to the organisation or to the reputation of the organisation, and to declare any conflicts of interest as soon as they arise.

If you are someone who has a strong interest in growing and improving the creative arts in Tasmania, we want to hear from you. Whether you are an emerging creative or an established industry professional, we guarantee you have something that you can bring to the table.
We need people who have something to offer, whether that is time to help organise and run events or initiatives, connections within your sector that can help further Apple Box Studio’s vision, ideas to drive the organisation forward, or expertise that we can utilise, in areas such as finance, marketing, business, event management, fundraising and philanthropy, grant applications and board experience.
We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive board, and we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds including (but not limited to) First Nations people, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with a disability, neurodivergent people, those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and people of all ages and genders.
We currently have 8 board members, but are hoping to increase that to 10. Many of our current board members will be nominating again however that still means we are on the lookout for a few new faces.

What are we NOT looking for?
Our values are extremely important to us, so if you have a strong objection to any of them (see our strategic plan summary below), then please do not apply.
We are also not looking for anyone just interested in joining so it looks good on your CV. We’re looking for people who are genuinely committed to contributing to Apple Box Studio and supporting Tasmania’s creative community as a whole.
To be absolutely clear, THIS IS NOT A PAID ROLE, it is entirely voluntary, you will not be remunerated for your time as an Apple Box Studio board member.
-
What do you get out of it?
You will have a positive effect on the community, contributing to the growth of, and shaping the future of, Tasmania’s creative sector.
You will be able to network and collaborate with passionate creatives and professionals both from your chosen sector and from other areas of the creative arts.
You will gain governance and leadership experience.
Apple Box Studio has insurance that covers the board, so there is no financial risk for you.
